Abstract
This review is essentially a summary of the 2007 version of the European guidelines on cardiovascular disease prevention in clinical practice recently published by the 4th Joint Task Force. New data from the guidelines in the fields of the general objectives in lifestyle modifications and drug therapies are emphasised. Recent studies on antioxydant vitamins, homocysteine-lowering vitamins and HDL-Cholesterol raising drugs are also being discussed.
