Protection of Equipment In Storage and Transit By Sealed Flexible Covers

Pages 247-251 | Published online: 18 Jul 2013

Abstract

Equipment is sealed together with a controlled amount of desiccant in a re-usable, flexible PVC cover. The research and experience which led to the choice of materials and to the design of the closure are described. It was found that the mam requirement for the cover material was that it should withstand rough handling whilst maintaining a predictable standard of resistance to penetration by water. Metal/plastics laminates cracked. Unsupported PVC: 0·035 in thick was generally satisfactory but modifications. for low-temperature and antistatic service have been sought. Closures have been designed to permit Servicing and testing of equipment during storage. Examples of the wide variety of applications for the system are described.
