Abstract

The author, a descendant of Dr William Wright, author of The Brontës in Ireland (1893), gives an account of the distinguished and adventurous life of Dr Wright. The essay concludes with a defence of Wright's book against two of its major critics. This article is an edited version of a talk given before the Irish section of the Brontë Society in 2002.
