Dissolution Kinetics of Ulexite in CO2-Saturated Water

Pages 393-396 | Published online: 18 Jul 2013

Abstract

The dissolution kinetics of ulexite in CO2-saturated water have been investigated with respect to the effects of particle size and solution temperature. The effect of preheating the mineral up to 300°C prior to contact with the aqueous phase was also examined. The calcination of ulexite enhanced the dissolution rates which reached a maximum when ulexite was heated to 150°C. The activation energy for this dissolution reaction was determined to be 51.7 kJ mol−1.
