Dissolution Kinetics of Ulexite in Ammonium Chloride Solution

Abstract

The leaching kinetics of ulexite in ammonium chloride solutions were studied. The effects of particle size, calcination temperature, solution concentration, and reaction temperature were evaluated. The rate of dissolution increases with decrease in particle size, with increase in ammonium chloride concentration, and with temperature. The ulexite sample calcined at 140°C has the highest dissolution rate.A kinetic model for ammonium chloride leaching of ulexite can be given by

[(l−X)−1−1] = k T[NH4Cl]R−3/4t

The activation energy for the dissolution is found to be 80 kJ mol−1. © 1998 Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Résumé

On a étudié la cinétique de lessivgage de l'ulexite dans des solutins de chlorure d'ammonium. On a évalué l'effet de la taille de particule, de la température de calcination, de la concentration de la solution,et de la température de reaction. Le taux de dissolution augmente avec la diminution de la taille de particule et avec l'autmentation de la concentration de chlorure d'ammonium et de la température. L'échantillon d'ulexite calciné à 140°C a le plus haut taux de dissolution. Un modèle cinétique du lessivage de l'ulexite par le chlorure d'ammonium peut etre donné par
