Effect and Behaviour of Al-B-C System Antioxidants Added To MgO-C Refractories

Abstract

Aluminum added to MgO-C refractories reacts with carbon to form Al4C3 during heating. Since it hydrates as the bricks are cooled, it causes the collapse of the refractories during reheating. The defect can be overcome by the use of Al8B4C7. In this paper, the effect and behaviour of Al-B-C system antioxidants added to MgO-C refractories have been investigated.

L'Al ajouté aux réfractaires de MgO-C réagit avec le carbone pour former de l'Al4C3 lors du chauffage. Puisqu'il s'hydrate à mesure que les briques refroidissent, cela cause l'effondrement des réfractaires lors du re-chauffage. On peut surmonter le problème en utilisant de l'Al8B4C7. Dans ce travail, on a étudié l'effet et le comportement des antioxydants du système Al-B-C ajoutés aux réfractaires de MgO-C.
