Abstract
The meridional portion of a fetal canid eye at gestation day 55 was embedded in methyl methacrylate. Full sagittal sections, from 1 to 4 microns, passing through pupil and optic papilla or through peripapillary zones of dysplastic retina, were obtained using a Leitz base-sledge microtome with a profile d knife.
Sections were floated onto glass slides with 50% ethanol, flattened with 95% ethanol, and dried on a 45' C warming plate. Plastic was removed with Cellosolve acetate, permitting a variety of routine and histochemical staining procedures.
