Abstract
A consistent 1procedure for the Warthin-Starry stain technique for melanin and spirochetes is described. Close attention to solution preparation, purity, and pH, freshness of chemicals used, and rigorous adherence to the protocol is essential. The procedures and recommendations described ensure consistent success when using this often difficult stain technique. (The J Histotechnol 19:339–340, 1996)
