Pages 1-22 | Published online: 18 Jul 2013

Abstract

This review is concerned with a type of cracking that often occurs during the postweld heat-treatment of Ni-base superalloys. The metallurgical factors and process variables that influence crack sensitivity are discussed in detail. The various types of tests available to study this type of embrittlement and the limitations of each approach are briefly described. Numerous suggestions are made for future work.
