Abstract
The 13th Conference and Exhibition of the Sheffield Metallurgical Association (SMEA), held on 24 and 25 June 2004, attracted 130 delegates. Twenty-two presentations in five sessions covered the latest developments in secondary steelmaking; development of process routes for increased output; optimisation of product quality; improving the performance of continuous casting; and developments in wide and fast casters and casting thin cast products, with an update on the latest in thin strip casting – Castrip at Nucor.
