Scapania paludicola Loeske & K. Müll. discovered in the British Isles

Abstract

Scapania paludicola is reported from Sphagnum bogs in E. Cornwall and Midwest Yorkshire. It differs from S. irrigua in its shorter, strongly arched keel, ovate-cordate, appressed antical leaf lobes with the base often extending below the level of the keel, and in the pink or purplish red mature gemmae.
