Response of growth to soil moisture: a laboratory and field investigation of Riccia discolor L. et L.

Pages 269-275 | Published online: 18 Jul 2013

Abstract

In Riccia discolor L. et L. culture for 60 days at soil moisture contents ranging from 10-100% of dry weight showed that optimum growth occurred at the 40% moisture level. In the field best growth also occurred at an average of 40% moisture level. Higher moisture percentages in both experimental and field conditions depressed growth. Relative humidity and temperature variation are also considered to be controlling factors in growth in the field.
