Abstract
Marsupella profunda Lindb., which occurs in Portugal and Madeira, is reported from W Cornwall, new to the British Isles. It is a small paroecious species with leaves that differ from those of M. sprucei in the obtuse or subobtuse lobes and deeper, narrower sinus. It occurs on crumbling granite and clay in disused china clay works where it is sometimes associated with but always remains distinct from M. sprucei.
