Abstract
The conditions under which electrical contacts are used differ widely. In selecting a material the various contact phenomena must be considered and the problems that can arise under different operating conditions understood. The final choice is frequently a material produced by powder metallurgy. Materials and fabrication are aimed at optimizing contact properties and method of attachment. Some contact problems and the solutions that have been developed are reviewed.
