Abstract
The paper discusses an original method of activating the sintering of copper powder. The technique is based on the interaction of formic or acetic acid vapour with copper powder, which results in adsorption of one or more of the decomposition products. It is shown that the adsorbed layers enhance densification, hardness, and tensile strength. The study includes observations on the effect of activator content, sintering atmosphere, temperature, time, and powder particle size.
