Abstract

Sintered alloys of the Fe-Ni, Fe-Cu, and Fe-Ni-Cu systems have been investigated by using single-pressing, double-pressing and hot-forging techniques. Different iron powders containing 0-6 wt.-% nickel or 0-5 wt.-% copper, also (for the ternary system) 0-5 wt.-% of both nickel and copper, were compacted and sintered and the effect of the additions on dimensional changes was studied. The influence of particlesize, compacting pressure, sintering temperatures, and furnace type on dimensions has been determined.
