THE ROLE OF SURFACE ENERGY AND POWDER GEOMETRY IN POWDER COMPACTION

Abstract

The factors governing the strength of cold-pressed metal powder compacts have been investigated. It is concluded that the most important parameters are freedom from oxidation and the plastic properties of the powder particles. These determine the roles played by surface energy and powder geometry in powder compaction.
