Application of PM titanium for dental implants

Pages 299-300 | Published online: 19 Jul 2013

Abstract

Because of its good biocompatibility and mechanical properties, titanium is an excellent candidate material for implants and other biomedical applications. Research at the Swedish Ceramic Institute in collaboration with Nobel Biocare AB has investigated the use of PM titanium and titanium/hydroxyapatite composites for dental implants. High velocity compaction has potential as a low cost production route for these materials.
