Abstract
The pressure drop method is one of the most popular ways of testing radioactive container seals. The method is quoted in both the American ANSI N 14.5 and the British AECP 1068 Standards. Unfortunately, the various standards quote sensitivities which vary by a factor of up to 105. This paper explains the possible reason for this discrepancy between the figures and indicates the effect of the variables that can influence the outcome of the test.
