Abstract
The radiological protection basis of the IAEA Transport Regulations has a long history; revisions and modifications have occurred over several decades. New mathematical models have been introduced and account taken of the recommendations of the ICRP. Data on radiation exposures of workers and of members of the public from transport operations are most important. This paper is an introduction to the radiological protection basis of the Regulations.
