Pages 107-110 | Published online: 19 Jul 2013

Abstract

As one of the major shippers in the world, Canada has considerable experience in the control and risks involved in the transport of radioactive material. This paper describes the system of regulatory controls that exist in Canada and provides shipping and accident statistics for the period from 1981 to 1992. Based upon these statistics, the transport of radioactive material has not resulted in a significant risk.
