Abstract
In the UK the regulations for the transport of radioactive materials by road are being revised to take full account of the recommendations contained in International Atomic Energy Agency's Safety Series No 6 Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Materials 1985 Edition (As amended 1990), and to bring these regulations into line with the provisions contained within the latest edition of the European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Goods by Road. The role of the UK Department of Transport in making and enforcing regulations for road transport is presented.
