Thirty-Five Years Experience of Transport Accidents and Incidents Involving Radioactive Materials

Abstract

A database has been established containing 451 events up to the end of 1992 involving radioactive materials during transport in the UK. These events have been categorised and infonnation obtained pertinent to future legislation and relevant to lessons learnt. The record is very good for the nuclear industry but there are improvements that can be made particularly in the areas of quality assurance and of training and information.
