Abstract
Dose commitment from transport of radioactive material can be determined using probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) techniques. To use this method, ideally each user state should generate data on accident severities and frequencies. To generate input data, for computing the dose commitment, the large body of information available with national authorities was analysed. Accidents were classified on the basis of severity. The frequency of occurrence of accidents of each severity category was computed in each type of population zone, viz., rural, semi-urban and urban.
