The Transport of Radioactive Materials by Sea — Role of the IMO

Abstract

The INF Code was adopted by IMO Assembly Resolution A.748(l8) in November 1993 as a voluntary code of practice for application by IMO Member States. This article describes briefly the activities of IMO relating to the carriage of dangerous goods by sea, including radioactive materials and, in particular, the work leading to the adoption of the INF Code and the latest developments in the IMO in relation thereto.
