Pages 21-26 | Published online: 19 Jul 2013

Abstract

The organisation is described for gathering information concerning incidents and accidents in France. In 1997, 13 incidents were listed, 6 of which met the criteria of the EVTRAM database. They comprised a loss of sources at sea at a depth of 3000 m, the derailment of a train carrying irradiated fuel, the exceeding of the non-fixed statutory contamination limits during the transport of irradiated fuel, the inadequate securing of containers of waste, the inadequate packaging of used sources and the theft of a gammagraph. Certain corrective measures, taken following these events, are described in the conclusion.
