Abstract
Some techniques used in the production of Islamic manuscripts have been newly identified. These include: a special use of burnishing in the making of a Beylik illumination; wrapper bindings; the use of dyeing as an alternative to insets of different colored leather; trimmed illuminations; and stamped verse markers in some medieval Qur'ans. Such techniques may be another source of evidence about different workshop practices that can help to date manuscripts and provide them with a provenance.
