Abstract
The Mekometer is an electro-optic distance measuring instrument with a resolution of 0·1 mm and a maximum range of 3 km. The NPL prototype Mk III has been shown to be free from cyclical phase errors and, in addition, incorporates an automatic correction for refractive index. It has been subjected to very extensive field trials.
