Abstract
Work originated in Canada, as a result of liaison between the customer and the Technical Services and Sales Departments of Eutectic-Canada, is reported. A sweat dryer roll (model 953A (Table 1)), manufactured by Dominion Engineering, Montreal, experienced pitting and wear of the working surface after approximately 3 years of operation, due to corrosion activity and paper abrasion. Reclamation using a MicroFlo ™ alloy specially formulated for wear and corrosion conditions encountered in paper mills resulted in an estimated increase in service life of 2 years.
