Abstract
From inception, Chinese Historians, recently rechristened The Chinese Historical Review, has played a pivotal role for its parent organization, Chinese Historians in the United States (CHUS). First of all, it is the common denominator that brings together scholars in different periods of Chinese history, often with varied disciplinary and methodological approaches; second, it provides a valuable outlet for academic productivity by members and other China scholars in the United States; lastly, it serves the fundamental purpose of bridging the gap in understanding between China and the United States.
