Abstract
In the fall of last year, I received the June 2007 issue of Diplomatic History, the official journal of the Society of Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR). The issue featured a special forum on the fortieth anniversary of the founding of SHAFR. Sixteen former SHAFR presidents contributed their reflections on the history of the organization in honor of its fortieth anniversary. When I was reading the forum, it occurred to me that 2007 happened to be the twentieth anniversary of the Chinese Historians in the United States (CHUS) and that we might perform some similar commemoration to celebrate the occasion. When Wang Xi asked me to participate in this symposium, I was more than happy to consent. It affords me a great pleasure to reflect on my twenty-year engagement with CHUS.
