Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs in the Treatment of Migraine

SUMMARY

NSAIDs can be used in both the acute and prophylactic treatment of migraine with and without aura. It is a safe therapeutic alternative fore young healthy patients, but should be used with caution in the elderly.

NSAIDs do not influence blood pressure and can be used in combination with most other migraine agents. The selective COX-2 inhibitors are an interesting therapeutic possibility for the future.
