Comparison of pitavastatin with simvastatin in primary hypercholesterolaemia or combined dyslipidaemia

Correction to: Leiv Ose, Dragos Budinski, Neil Hounslow, et al. Comparison of pitavastatin with simvastatin in primary hypercholesterolaemia or combined dyslipidaemia. Curr Med Res Opin 2009;25:2755–64.

The authors have been made aware of several errors that appeared in their paper and are happy to be able to make the following corrections:

  1. On page 2758, column 2, paragraph 2, the dosage of the simvastatin group was misreported. The correct text should read: “… compared with the simvastatin 40 mg group (23.1 vs. 12.7%).

  2. On page 2759, table 1. The characteristics of “Sex” and “NCEP risk category” should have the quantifiers (n, %) attached. Within the “Simvastatin 20 mg/day” data, 74.8% fell under the diagnosis category of “Primary hypercholesterolaemia”, and the Mean Weight was 78.5. In the “Simvastatin 40 mg/day” data, the SD of the Mean Weight should be 12.4.

  3. On page 2761, table 4, there are several corrections to the data. Under the “Pitavastatin 2mg/day” data, the p-value of “Non-HDL-C: HDL-C” should be 0.082, and for “Apo-A1 (mg/dL)”, should be 0.598. Under the “Pitavastatin 4 mg/day” data, the “TG (mg/dL)” Mean Baseline should be 155.4, and the p-value for “Apo-A1 (mg/dL)” should be 0.838. Under the “Simvastatin 40 mg/day” data, the “TC: HDL-C” Mean ratio change should be −1.8. hs-CRP is also misspelled as Hs-CRP.

None of these changes affect the conclusions drawn by the authors.
