Summary

A double-blind study was carried out on 42 hospital in-patients to compare the efficacy of lorazepam and diazepam in the treatment of the more severely disturbed anxious patient. The corresponding falls in the Hamilton Rating Scale scores with both drugs show that, in the doses used i.e. from 3 to 9 mg. lorazepam and from 15 to 40 mg. diazepam, the clinical efficacy is similar. No adverse reactions were recorded in either group.
