Summary

The effectiveness of lorazepam, a new benzodiazepine derivative, in treating Thai patients with anxiety and related neurotic symptoms was assessed in this uncontrolled study of 56 out-patients. A good to excellent improvement was noted in 69.6% of patients and only in 4 patients were the results poor. Optimal dosage appeared to be 2 to 4 mg. per day, and at this dosage lorazepam was well-tolerated by the majority of patients. The only side-effect that occurred with any frequency was initial mild drowsiness.
