Summary

One hundred and two women were treated for approximately 2 years with a low-dose progestogen-only oral contraceptive preparation (‘Exlutori’) containing 0.5 mg. lynestrenol per tablet. Therapy was continuous, without interruption of the cycle. The contraceptive reliability during the total of 2,421 cycles was 100%; side-effects, including breakthrough bleeding and spotting, were minimal – even in the first cycles of treatment.

Serum alkaline phosphatase and SGOT-determinations in each patient after a year's treatment showed that liver function was undisturbed.
