Summary
Fifty-five patients diagnosed as having maturity onset diabetes took part in a clinical study of glipizide: 43 were treated with the compound for 16 weeks or longer. Glipizide was found to be convenient to use, safe and well tolerated with no adverse clinical, biochemical or haematological effects. Of the 43 patients, 31 (72%)had good control of their condition. In the authors' experience glipizide was as effective as chlorprop-amide.
