Summary
A double-blind trial was carried out in 30 industrial workers presenting either with Tinea pedis or Tinea cruris. Patients were treated at random with either 1 % clotrimazole or 1% tolnaftate creams, applied twice daily, for up to 4 weeks. Patients were assessed clinically and skin scrapings were taken for mycological examination. The results showed that Tinea cruris responded better to treatment with both agents than did Tinea pedis. Clotrimazole appeared to act faster than tolnaftate since many patients were clinically clear at 2 weeks.
