Statistical Frontiers in Survey Sampling

Pages 145-149 | Published online: 01 Jan 2012

Abstract

In her 1956 American Statistical Association Presidential Address titled “Statistical Frontiers,” Gertrude Cox outlined her view of what the future held for statisticians. Seven paragraphs of that address dealt with theoretical and practical challenges in survey sampling. This article revisits Cox's frontiers in “sample design territory” and discusses their relevance to current problems.
