Abstract
As electronic communications grow in importance, so too has the need to address privacy issues in the management of E-mail systems. Because the legal system has not kept pace with the ethical issues accompanying the use of E-mail and there is no agreement on what constitutes a reasonable expectation of privacy, organizations must create their own internal policies. Following the steps of a comprehensive strategy helps ensure integration of legal compliance with an emphasis on ethically responsible management.
