Abstract
Strategic information systems have not realized their potential, largely because of misconceptions regarding their genesis and use. After exploring the myths surrounding strategic systems, this article presents a framework that delineates the four critical information inputs to the systems and helps ensure the necessary synergy among a firm's external characteristics, its capabilities, and its goals.
