Abstract

Recent events in the software industry signal a changing environment for development organizations in terms of ethical and legal responsibility should software malfunction and cause financial loss or physical harm to the user. Is it realistic for consumers to expect innovative software rich in both features and quality, and what are the implications for developers if users seek recourse for less than perfect products?
