Xml — Rosetta Stone for Data

Abstract

The continuing proliferation of different platforms in modern enterprises has created the immense challenge of managing and working with different data formats. This challenge is further magnified by the efforts required to work with different data formats between enterprises. More flexible and cost-effective data exchange alternatives than the current customized interfaces are urgently required. Increasingly, XML is viewed as a key enabling standard for exchanging data because of its ease of implementation and operational flexibility.
