Abstract
On January 1, 1999, the European Monetary Union (EMU) introduced the euro, a single currency for participating member states. Obviously, the transition to the euro will immediately affect information systems in EMU member countries. What is not so obvious to many companies in the United States is that they too must immediately prepare their information systems for the move to the euro if they plan to conduct business in Europe.
