Television and Children's Conceptions of Nutrition

Abstract

This cultivation anal sis examined the association between television viewing and perceptions of numbon in a sample of 427 fourth- and fifth-grade students. There was a strong positive relation between television viewing and having unhealthy perceptions of nutrition. This correlation withstood controls for gender, race, reading level, parents' educational level, and parents' occupation.
