Well Woman's Clinic: A Health Promotion Program

Pages 75-85 | Published online: 07 Jun 2010

Abstract

In the typical health care setting of our day, true health promotion is often overlooked. Most authors agree that health promotion activities involve healthy people and serve to encourage growth and improvement in well-being. Community health nurses can be very instrumental in planning and implementing primary prevention programs that are of good quality and are cost effective. The nursing process provides a scientific, systematic framework and will be used to discuss a women's health promotion program that is the focus of this article. The program is called "The Well Woman's Clinic" (WWC) and is sponsored by the Tempe St. Luke's Hospital, Arizona State University, and Dr. H. C. Watters.
