An Analysis of Nurse Recording in Family Health Clinics of a County Health Department

Pages 3-10 | Published online: 07 Jun 2010

Abstract

A study of nurse recording of interactions with maternal and child clients in family health clinics of a county health department is reported in this article. The Classification Scheme for Client Problems in Community Health Nursing (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1980) was utilized as a coding framework to translate narrative style nurse recording into a descriptive data base. Findings indicate that the most frequent presentation of clients to the nurse was for health promotion and prevention services delivered to clients who identified themselves as healthy-with no specific health problems.
