Stability of Special Education Placements: Data-Based Policy Consultation

Abstract

This study contributes to the scientific base of consultation by providing information concerning what happens to special education students once they are officially labeled and given special education services. The school records of 654 rural special education services were examined for a period spanning a minimum of 3 years to determine what proportion had a change in classification and/or programming and what factors were associated with these changes.
