Renal Failure Adjustment and Coping Style

Pages 271-272 | Published online: 10 Jun 2010

Abstract

The role of coping style in renal failure adjustment was investigated in a sample of 62 patient volunteers. Two descriptive questions were considered. Is psychosocial adjustment related to coping style? Do patients receiving differing treatments rely on distinctive coping styles? Aggressive coping style was inversely related to psychological adjustment. Patients receiving staff-supervised treatment had significantly higher scores on a scale measuring more passive defense.
