Using Classroom Debates in Teaching Developmental Psychology

Pages 207-209 | Published online: 20 Nov 2009

Abstract

Classroom debates have been used in a developmental psychology course in order to teach students about controversial issues and to kelp them improve their thinking and oral communications skills. Specific procedures and policies for the debates are described. Evaluation indicates that students consider the debates to be a positive learning experience. Problems with the technique are discussed and some possible solutions proposed.
